I am SO proud of my cousin Kim. She has so generously shared her journey through severe depression and anxiety for quite some time now, and JUST published her first book, “Where Did Mommy’s Smile Go”. This book will teach parents, caregivers, teachers and loved ones how to help children cope with their feelings when someone they love, especially their mommy, is incapacitated by this monster calleddepression. This book is the journey of a family of five, the youngest daughter being the most vulnerable to the trauma of her once-strong mommy “disappearing” into a shadow of her former self. All of us parents know how hard it is to not feel guilty about harming our children emotionally. We want them to feel safe, but sometimes we fall short. We are human. No one should feel guilty for having an illness, and no child should feel unsafe. That is why this book is so important. It shows how family can still be family through a storm, even if one parent is temporarily holding the umbrella…. . The book is available on Canadian Amazon, and I am sure Kim will mail you a copy if you are interested.
