Susan’s Sound Advice #1295

When my middle son was little, he was attached to his blanket. Over time, the blanket became so frayed and raggedy, but he would not go anywhere without it, and I couldn’t get him to sleep without it. We went on vacation and I realized that I forgot to take the blanket! I panicked because I knew that this was going to be the end of our plan for a relaxing time. As soon as we got on the plane, he asked for his “blankie”. I told him that blanket was at home watching his toys, awaiting the dreaded screaming tantrum to come. Well, guess what? He was fine! He looked out the window and was mesmerized by the flight. He was ready to give up his “security blanket”! Many of us are still holding on to our security blankets, afraid to move out of our comfort zones. What is holding you in situations and actions that no longer work for you? Until you can let go of those old, outdated habits, they’ll continue to hold you prisoner. To stay in your comfort zone through habit or an irrational fear of what may lie outside, will only keep you trapped in a life of frustration and regret. One single action will allow you to open the door of your self-imposed prison and walk out a free person. Let go of your security blanket and see the opportunities available to you. Here’s how that little guy looks now! #susankorwin #drzach
