30 Dec Susan’s Sound Advice #1015
As I prepare to ring in the new year 2016, I can’t help but to reflect on the past year and use the lessons and experiences I learned in 2015 as a guiding force. Looking backward is an opportunity to learn from my past, but only in terms of what I can do in the future. Many of us had a mixture of good and bad this year, and we are all likely to be looking forward to 2016 with hopes for renewal. I, for one, have had a few major obstacles to deal with this year. I learned that bad things DO happen to good people; I learned that even though we think we are invincible, we are not; I learned the truth about friendships and compassion, about family and love. I needed that love, friendship and compassion, and it came from those who I will continue to appreciate and treasure way into the future. Now that I have reflected on the past, I look to the next 12 months as a precious gift, one that won’t be given again. For me personally, I choose to stay grateful and positive because I know that attitude can heal and turn around even the darkest situations. Besides being grateful, the following is a small list of some things we ALL should put on our New Year’s resolution list:
Make a genuine effort to stay in closer touch with family and good friends. If you want to have good friends, BE a good friend;
Be kind and thoughtful. Give compliments more than complaints.
Apologize if you know you did something wrong. It doesn’t diminish, it elevates.
Don’t sweat the small stuff. Ask yourself if this will matter tomorrow or next week. If it won’t, let it go!
Be an encourager and not a discourager. Mistakes are made by everyone, and failure is the best teacher.
Be optimistic because pessimism seldom solves problems
Don’t discard old-fashioned principles; integrity never goes out of style;
Smile more, frown less. It’s the best face-lift!
Last, but not least…. Don’t be afraid to say “I love you” to those who mean the most and repeat it often because it can never be said too much!
I want to take this opportunity to wish each and every one of you a happy, healthy, prosperous, POSITIVE 2016. To my clients…thank you for trusting my intuition and advice! See you next year. . !! with Robert Korwin .
