Susan’s Sound Advice #1032

Those whose lives have been upturned or challenged by cancer immediately have a connection. It’s like they are members of an exclusive club, which sadly, doesn’t discriminate. They empathize with each other because they have and continue to go down the same road. This is not a club that anyone wants to belong to, but life does not give us a choice. Today is World Cancer Day and it is meant to bring awareness to cancer. It is highly unlikely that any of us who lives on this planet is not aware of the word “cancer”. It’s a disease that touches almost everyone, either within a family, someone you love, or you. According to statistics by the American Cancer Society, 1. 65, 540 new cancer cases are expected to be diagnosed in 2016, and 13. 7 million Americans alive today have or have had cancer! If you don’t know someone who has struggled, fought, won or lost a battle with cancer…. I am sorry to tell you that eventually you will. Because we are all in this together praying for a cure, cancer has, in a way, given us a gift. It reminds us that we are all human, we are all vulnerable, and that we must stay kind to each other…. . #susankorwin
