05 Jul Susan’s Sound Advice #1091
I have a confession to make: I am obsessed with true crime. It may sound morose, but watching shows like Dateline Mystery, 48 Hours, etc. , grabs my interest much more than anything else on television. I guess I am not the only one, or else these shows, including many others, would not be so popular. It’s amazing how cases are solved through DNA and mistakes made by the guilty to ultimately end intheir arrest. I also read many books on this subject too. To that end, I am announcing that I am working on a new book which will be a mystery…a far cry from my current book! Yes, I am traveling WAY out of my usual field of expertise, but I need to do this. Our comfort zone is an artificial mental boundary, which gives us a sense of security and feelings of , well, comfort. Within this artificial comfort zone, everything is routine, familiar and safe. If we continue this way, we never feel pushed and rarely unlock what is hidden inside of us. Whether I can do this, and whether this story will be a success really doesn’t matter, although I would be thrilled if it became a best seller. In the meantime, I am content to take a step out of my routine and see what happens.
