Susan’s Sound Advice #1105

So many beautiful, historic buildings are being torn down and replaced by generic looking structures. I am all for progress, but I do cherish the homes that have some character and charm and are still standing strong. One of those structures is the Dakota. It was built in 1880 and is still considered one of Manhattan’s most prestigious and exclusive co-op residential buildings. I have walked passed it hundreds of times, one time even meeting John Lennon who was exiting his car right in front of me. I love uniqueness, whether through fashion, style, architecture, etc. Everything has become generic looking to me. That is why when I see something that has charm and character, I perk up. Old buildings and houses are like people. They’ve all got their stories, they’ve all got their flaws, but they are our legacy. We should respect them…#susankorwin
