Susan’s Sound Advice #1111

Two years ago yesterday, Robin Williams ended his life by his own choice. I think I can safely say that none of us expected him, of all people, to do such a thing. We just assumed that he must be living a great and happy life! I try to put my best face on just like everyone else does. Sometimes I smile even when I don’t feel like smiling. I guess that’s why it might be easy to make assumptions about others. However, we can never truly know what someone else is going through. Everyone on this planet has stress. I know I sure do! Some people have health issues, relationship issues, financial problems or family issues. We have no way of knowing, even if a person alludes to their problems, how pervasive they are. There are people who are secretly battling cancer, being cyber- bullied, and going bankrupt without the rest of us knowing a thing! Suicide has become an epidemic. I teach compassion to my clients and I try to practice what I preach. I am far from perfect. I have to stop myself from making judgments about others and losing my patience. I make a sincere effort to smile and compliment those I am in contact with. Life is far from perfect for all of us. Let’s all start today to show compassion for everyone we meet, even those we don’t think need it. Sometimes the person who tries to keep everyone happy is the unhappiest. #susankorwin
