Susan’s Sound Advice #112

There’s nothing that saps our energy more than fear and worry. The power of fear keeps many of us from improving our lives. It is a very intense emotion. Frequently in life (and in business), we get very comfortable and settle in to our programmed routine. But it is important to get out of our comfort zone to truly succeed and find our greatness. Are you afraid of failure? Is that what is preventing you from moving forward? If this is you, then you must realize that failure is not your enemy. We learn our best lessons from our failures. We learn more about ourselves when we fail than when we succeed. It makes us stronger and gives us character. When you stay in one place without taking risks, you are limiting your potential. Successful people are those who conquer their fears. I remember when I was in college, I would always get nervous when I had to stand up in front of class. So, I took a Public Speaking class. During this class, the teacher videotaped me and then pointed out my body language, etc. This was a very intimidating situation for me, but in the end, it helped me to overcome my fear of talking in front of a crowd. Sometimes doing something over and over builds your confidence. Usually we are afraid of things we are not very good at or have little experience with.
Remember, we all are afraid of something. Make a decision today to face at least one of your fears. You will see yourself growing into a more confident and purpose-filled individual.
