Many of us have been taken in by the smooth, sweet talking grifter/con-artist, also known as a pathological liar. Many times, there is no way of knowing that these people are liars until we have already let them into our “world”…when they have gained our trust. These people are gleefully dishonest, intentionally ambiguous, eternally bored, and unfathomably manipulative. Pathological liars are the ultimate masters of deception. They always have excuses for their inexcusable behavior and somehow it is never their fault. They cheat, manipulate and steal, yet they still play the victim. They lie, even when it is not necessary, even when the truth would be a better story. They lie for sport, as it is their way of feeling superior to those who are gullible enough to believe them. For those of us who have been kind to a person who turned out to be a grifter, we should never blame ourselves. Believing in someone is not a weakness. It shows that we are loving, compassionate and kind, These are all emotions that a narcissistic liar is incapable of feeling. What is so sad is that in their attempt to manufacture superiority, they end up revealing the pitiful nature of the emptiness that consumes their soul. #susankorwin
