Susan’s Sound Advice #1194

How many times have you been sitting outside, either at the beach or poolside when, all of a sudden, the clouds move in and a storm takes over the beautiful afternoon. Well, life works the same way. All of a sudden, a “storm” appears with no warning and changes everything. It could be a health crisis, the death of a loved one, a financial setback, or a broken relationship. Your life is changed dramatically and there’s no going back to the “old” days. This is life. Storms, natural disasters and all the other “stuff” is something that is totally out of our control. Believe me, I know first-hand that when something terrible happens to you, the last thing you want to do is count your blessings and learn from the experience. But, it really does help to know that we find our greatest strength when we are facing our greatest enemy. So…be kind to yourself during the storm. Eat healthy foods, exercise, and make sure to breathe! If you can…DANCE! While dancing, you cannot possibly feel sad. Take it from me! But, if you need to cry, then cry. It is cleansing and replenishing! Or…go for a cup of coffee with a good friend. Just know that no matter what you are experiencing, eventually you will find a sliver of light through the darkness. Your life may be changed forever, but this hardship may just lead to your greatest triumph. Every negative thing that happens to us has a benefit. Things may never be the way they were before the “storm”, but at least we can learn to “dance in the rain”. #susankorwin
