Susan’s Sound Advice #1198

#sundaysentiment : What separates humans from animals? I would say that it is “soul”. Animals can be loyal, they can be brave, and they can show sadness. But animals are incapable of making moral choices. That is what separates us from every other species…. We humans have the ability to CHOOSE to be good, CHOOSE to be generous, CHOOSE to be forgiving and CHOOSE to be honest. Only beings with soul can do this. Sometimes we get so busy with the craziness of life that we forget to nourish our souls. But it is our souls that feed us the wisdom that guides our working and living hours. Animals have no choice in how they spend their time…. it is purely random. Human beings and only human beings can control how they spend their time. We have the power to take a day off to restore our souls, to spend more time with loved ones, to help a friend in need. If we define ourselves only by our jobs, only by how much money we earn, or how big our house is, we lose part of our “soul” in the process. Today, if you know someone who is suffering for any reason, please reach out to them. You don’t have to be an expert speaker…just let them know you care. If you have been neglecting your family or your loved ones, spend some quality time with them. Human souls are nourished by positive relationships and just a small gesture to another human has the power to heal a person’s soul as well as your own. Doing the right thing, even when it is difficult is a magnetic force that guides us through the dark into the light and gives us the strength of soul we need to be amazing human beings. #susankorwin
