Susan’s Sound Advice #1259

What is the biggest contributing factor to our anxiety and depression? You guessed it: Our inner voice! If you’ve ever listened to a talented motivational speaker, you know how their presentations can bring about a huge, powerful change in your feelings. You listen, you nod in agreement, and you feel like this is what you needed to hear. Yet, you also may notice that that feeling of lightness wears off after just a short time. Here’s the truth: You have to “inspire” yourself consistently with your own voice. It’s great to listen to motivation, but you can’t rely on someone else to make you feel good. As you get more used to the feeling of being self- inspired, you train your brain to ward off those negative “voices” that want to infiltrate. Every time you feel happy and excited by life, savor it for all it’s worth. It can be something as simple as creating a recipe or admiring the beauty of your garden as it blossoms. Rewire your brain to break the habit of depression by focusing on what inspires you. Hope you have a great Tuesday! #susankorwin
