Susan’s Sound Advice #1281

We awake and immediately our minds start the harassment. We listen, and even though there is no threat, our hearts start beating faster, our mouths get dry, and we are running from an enemy that doesn’t exist. This is what happens in the mind of someone dealing with anxiety and panic disorder. There really is nowhere to hide, because the evil torturer is not a neighbor, a relative, a personal enemy…it is our inner voice. So, what do we do? It is virtually impossible to completely stop the chatter in our heads. But, the more we obey, the bigger and stronger this “bully” grows. When we are confronted by a bully, the best thing to do is stand up to them. Bullies gain their power by our loss of power. When the negative voices try to scare you, just realize that they are not real. Ignore the threats, the scare tactics and the abuse. In reality, there is nothing to be afraid of. Trust in the universe, have faith, and let that be your power. The bully in your head will eventually realize it’s not getting to you and will eventually give up the torture. #susankorwin
