Susan’s Sound Advice #1288

Prayer, therapy, life-coaching: These are all great resources to help us through difficult times. But, there HAS to be an effort on our part too, Here’s a good story which you may have already heard, but I will write it anyway. There was a man who was in his home when a flood rose to the level of his front porch. A guy in a boat came by to rescue him, but the man refused to go. “I’ve been prayingto God”, the man said to the boat driver. “Go on. God will take care of me”. A little while later, with the flood rising and the man hanging out his second-story window, the guy in the boat came by again. “Nope, I’m good”, the man in the house said. “God will save me”. The flood continued to rise, forcing the man onto the roof. The man in the boat came by once more, only to be rejected again. When the flood finally consumed the house, the man in the house drowned. When he got to Heaven, he confronted God about what happened. “Why did you let me die?”, the man asked. “I put my faith in You. I thought You would save me”. “Are you kidding me?”, God replied. “I sent a boat three times to rescue you. What more did you want?” Here’s the message: While having faith and looking to others for help is wonderful, we also have to work at solving our problems on our own to a great extent. It’s not easy, it’s not always pleasant, but it’s up to us to accomplish what we want and to not be blind to the signs placed in front of us. #dailyinspiration #susankorwin #lifecoach #author #simplestridestowardpositi vechange
