24 Feb Susan’s Sound Advice #134
Yesterday, I was on line at the grocery and in front of me was a mother with a teenage daughter. The daughter seemed so sad, and I noticed that her posture was very poor. One characteristic of people with low self-esteem is poor posture, so I immediately struck up a conversation with her. I told her that she had the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen, and that I wished I had eyes like her. I can’t begin to explain the transition she made within a few short minutes. It was almost like a wilted flower being watered! She lit up and smiled and actually walked away with better posture! I felt such a sense of elation myself, because self-esteem not only comes from being complimented, but it also comes from creating goodness around you. Helping others is a surefire way to boost your own self-esteem. Why? Because it’s very hard to say “I made someone feel good today, but I am a loser. ” Go ahead…make someone’s day today!
