Susan’s Sound Advice #180

I have posted about this subject before, but I feel it needs repeating. There are so many who need constant attention and adulation from others in order to feel that “high” that comes with feeling good about themselves. Obviously there is something missing inside. They don’t know who they really are. They only know themselves by others’ recognition and opinions. They are a blank page and so they wait for others to write on the page. If someone says they are talented, they feel talented. If someone says they are so popular, they feel popular. If someone says they are ugly, they feel sad. If someone says they are beautiful, they feel happy. They just don’t know who they are, so they go around amassing opinions. Don’t be a borrowed being…forget about what others think. You can’t find real peace and happiness when you don’t know who you really are. For better or worse, accept yourself, accept your flaws and your talents. The result: You won’t need constant validation because you know who is staring back at you in the mirror!
