Susan’s Sound Advice #222

When two people with healthy boundaries enter into a relationship, they encourage wholeness, independence and greatness in their partner. They know how to trust and that normal glitches found in all relationships can be worked out constructively. If we don’t have self-respect, it affects our relationships. We often become needy, overbearing and jealous because we are looking to the other person to fulfill and satisfy our every need. The journey to a sense of healthy self identity is not always easy, but not impossible. It means treating ourselves with respect and appreciating ourselves for what we really are. When we can do this for ourselves, we can take the same approach toward our partner. As a result, the true happiness and love that our relationship deserves can become a reality. ©susankorwin
