03 Aug Susan’s Sound Advice #246
Last night, while we were dining at a restaurant, two elderly couples sat down at the next table. We couldn’t help but hear their conversation for the first few minutes. “The economy is terrible”, “doctors and dentists are thieves”, “this heat is the worst”. This was the central topic of their dinner: Negativity. It certainly is around us all the time, invading our space like ants at a picnic. Wehear and see negative stories and images on the news. Our friends and business associates share their negative stories or reactions to life events. We watch violence and murder at the movies. . Before we know it, we feel negative and depressed about our lives. Turn it off. Walk away. Stop listening. Instead watch, read, and listen to uplifting and positive messages. We can’t avoid the negative side of life, but we can avoid dwelling on it. © 2011 Susan Korwin
