Susan’s Sound Advice #250

What happens when the people you give to want to keep taking but don’t want to reciprocate when you need them? We all want to be good people, but being taken advantage of should not be part of the deal. Setting boundaries so that you don’t get used does NOT make you a bad person, it makes you SMART! Notice how a person treats others. Look for signs that they take more than they give. This is a test of their character. All relationships need to be a two-way street. By setting boundaries, you are letting the other person know that you are more than willing to help them, but they need to do the same for you. And, don’t ever lend money without a written plan for payback. Keep your relationships equal…you are still a good person!
