Negative or positive thinking becomes second nature to us, depending on which “habit” we have adopted over the years. Yes…that’s what it is, a habit! It’s what we have become accustomed to. Now, positive thinking is a good habit, and one that does not need to be broken. But, self-critical thoughts are something different. You can’t just tell yourself to think positive. You must monitor and be aware every time a defeating thought enters your mind. Here’s a tip I learned a while ago: Put a handful of paper clips in your pocket or purse. Every time you make a critical remark to yourself, link one paper clip to another. You will be shocked to see how long the chain is by the end of the day! Unchain your self-defeating thoughts. They are just standing in your way. Possibility thinking is your key to happiness and success. © 2011 Susan Korwin
