Susan’s Sound Advice #261

Many of you, like me, are in the path of Hurricane Irene and are no doubt getting anxious thinking about all that can go wrong. Let’s face it: Any crisis or survival situation is a difficult one to cope with. There is an urgency to taking action quickly. There is uncertainty as to the scope of the disaster and the consequences. Our immediate future is not known. Hurricanes can be very tricky to concisely predict, as their paths can quickly change from minute to minute. This makes it even more difficult to handle, for government agencies as well as individuals. I am fearful…I admit it. So should you. There is no shame in it. But, with the fear, I know there are still things that have to be done and that after this experience, I will be a stronger person in one way or another. If we are prepared in every way, it will help us remain calm and focused. If you ignore preparing for the worst, it will stack the odds against you. Prepare = survive. No matter how much we want “smooth sailing”, there will always be turbulence of some sort. When the storm starts, remember to stay focused on the eye. It’s the calmest, strongest, clearest place to be. Have a positive vision. . believe you’ll survive this. . and you will!! © 2011 Susan Korwin
