Sometimes a single word can make all the difference and problem is one of those words. I’ve often wondered if I would have done better in math if they had called them math “puzzles” instead of math problems. Using the term problem evokes such a negative, hopeless, impotent feeling. So, let’s see how we can change this: When a so-called problem arises in your life, think of it as a puzzle. Is there a way to solve this puzzle? If so, start putting the pieces together calmly and with confidence. Like any puzzle, it takes time to solve. But, you are definitely ready for the challenge. Bring it on! © 2011 Susan Korwin
