Susan’s Sound Advice #309

I met Donna Moore last year at a dinner before the Drama Desk Awards. She told me how she has been working on an idea for a musical called Cougar for the past 8 years. Her passion for this play was palpable, and I told her I was sure it was going to happen and for her to keep me posted. Well, her play made it! It is now in previews at the St. Luke’s Theater and playing to full houses with standingovations. I was blown away by how this show embraces humor, inspiration, musical numbers that will have you humming all day, and amazing choreography. The play will have its opening day on August 26th, and I wish her all the luck in the world. Donna didn’t dwell on whether or not she would fail. She knew that we only get this one life to make a dream come true. She took chances because she believed in her passion. For the rest of us, here’s some advice: Keep at it, take chances, fail until you succeed, and don’t be afraid to move beyond your comfort zone. And, most importantly, don’t allow those with small minds to convince you that your dreams are too big. Your dreams are NEVER too big! — with Donna Moore .
