17 Sep Susan’s Sound Advice #350
Today my middle son is 28 years old! With all three of my sons, I can vividly remember every detail about their infancy like it was yesterday. Where did the time go? From infant, to toddler, to pre-teen, to teenager, and finally, to adult, each stage was an exciting journey. How many times do we hear, “savor every moment because it goes so fast?”. I have to admit that I was one of those who listened half-heartedly when my children were small. Now I have become one of those people who, when I see parents with young children, tell them to “enjoy them now because they grow up way too fast”. People grow up and grow old right in front of our nose; our kids, our friends’ kids, our own friends…. and we really don’t notice it as it is happening. But one day, we stumble upon an old photograph and our breath is taken away. Here is my advice to you: Be present, be there, take plenty of photos and videos, but more importantly, savor each and every moment when your child wants to sit on your lap, or lie down in bed with you; or nag you for your attention when you are doing something else. This time will never come again, just like the present moment.
