Denial is like living in quicksand. It keeps us trapped in emotional distress. Every time you deny your “truth” (what you are really feeling or habits you can’t break), you sink deeper and deeper into the quicksand. This stuck feeling only prolongs our problems and often makes them worse. Some common consequences of “denial” are: depression, anger, victim mentality, unhealthy relationships, unfulfilling jobs and anxiety. Remember, you’ll never be released from the quicksand unless you take the action steps necessary to acknowledge your truth. Grab on to the rope, face reality, and be released!
