05 Jan Susan’s Sound Advice #426
The time has finally come! All the gifts have been unwrapped, the cookies have been baked, eaten and given as gifts, Auld Lang Syne has been sung, and we’ve ushered in a new year!! Most of us are happy to get back to life as normal, but for some, moving on is not easy. The holiday season is an emotional roller coaster, and getting off can really make some lose their footing. This is a common condition called “the post-holiday blues” and it’s very normal! After all, one day you’re partying with friends, eating yummy goodies, admiring all the decorations, and then all of a sudden you’re back to the old grind. No need to let it get to you! Plan some interesting things so you always have something to look forward to. Maybe book a weekend get away, schedule lunch with a friend, start a project you’ve been putting off. Once you give yourself something to look forward to, the holidays will be a happy memory instead of a long lost one. If you find you can’t get over the “blues”, contact a professional. Either me (Life Coach), a therapist or just a trusted friend. Don’t isolate yourself. January is the start of a great new year…. enjoy every minute from this moment forward! #holidaybluesarenormal #lookaheadnotback #lifeisgreat
