Susan’s Sound Advice #440

Now this was an unexpected challenge! After leaving an event a while back, I was confronted by a guy with a Segway who insisted I try riding it down the streets of Manhattan. I have NEVER been on one of these vehicles, let alone ride one with platform heels. My first reaction was a profound “NO”, but with the crowd cheering me on, I decided to try it. I went a block or two and that was enough forme, but what a feeling knowing I tried something that I was fearful of. Tackling a new skill or taking on an adventure that scares you a little helps you grow and makes you happier. When I think back to the most memorable moments of my life, it’s when I stepped out of my comfort zone…whether writing my book, speaking in front of an audience, mountain climbing, walking down a runway for the first time, etc. These moments left me with a great sense of accomplishment and fulfillment that can’t be rivaled. It really doesn’t have to be a death-defying adventure. It can be something as small as visiting a new place or starting a new hobby. Trying something new sends a message to your subconscious that you believe in yourself. #youcandoit #trysomethingnew #lifeisforliving
