Have you ever noticed when traffic slows down for miles that it is usually because there is either an accident on the other side of the highway or it’s because someone is getting a ticket and everyone slows down to see what’s happening? Do you wonder why all these reality shows are so popular? It’s because society loves to watch “trainwrecks”. I guarantee that if a show was based on the beauty ofnature or how we can make this world a better place by being kinder to each other, it would not last a week! I think the more we focus on these negative things, the more we become negative as a society. I write in my book how I used to be a news junkie. I would switch from CNN, to Fox News, to MSNBC and that was ALL I watched. But here’s the deal: The brains behind the news stations are fully aware that our minds are attracted to the negative, and that’s why they bombard us with stories of murders, rapes, robberies, terrorism, war, etc. , to keep us riveted to our TV screens. In all honesty, I don’t need more drama in my life. You may not realize this, but avoiding or limiting how much news you watch or read about does not make you less informed. It will allow you to focus on other facets of the day that don’t include sadness. Believe me, if something important happens in the world, you will know it. But to sit and constantly soak in visions of rapes, kidnappings and murders first thing in the morning or at the end of the day just to be informed is not productive. It’s funny, but now, when I turn on the television, I watch shows that make me smile, shows that make me think that life is still a wonderful place, and it has worked wonders for changing my negative mindset. Today, try limiting your intake of all things negative and destructive. How about “Modern Family” re-runs? Yay! #dailyinspiration #susankorwin #lifecoach #author #simplestridestowardpositi vechange #nonewsisgoodnews
