Susan’s Sound Advice #607

Last night, after our wonderful visit to the N. J. Botanical Gardens, we decided to eat at a restaurant in Suffern, NY which was nearby, and which brought back memories of the days we used to stop there on our way home from Montreal with my sons. It’s a Japanese restaurant atop a mountain with a gorgeous view, and one of those places where they cook the food in front of you. We shared a table withfour other people, one of which was a young guy with his mom. He seemed so sad, and I noticed that his posture was very poor. One characteristic of people with low self-esteem is poor posture, so I immediately struck up a conversation with him. I told him that he had the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen, and that I wished I had eyes that color. I can’t begin to explain the transition he made within a few short minutes. It was almost like a wilted flower being watered! He lit up and smiled and actually sat up straighter in his seat! I felt such a sense of elation myself, because self-esteem not only comes from being complimented, but it also comes from creating goodness around you. Helping others is a surefire way to boost your own self-esteem. Why? Because it’s very hard to say “I made someone feel good today, but I am a loser. ” Go ahead…make someone’s day today! #dailyinspiration #susankorwin #lifecoach #author #simplestridestowardpositi vechange
