Susan’s Sound Advice #65

Have you ever noticed that when you think about being itchy, you begin to scratch? Or, when you have a cut, the more you think about the cut, the more it hurts? It’s the same with our problems. You are not going to change the fact that you have a cut or are itchy, but you can stop focusing on it. Obsessing on a problem becomes a habit, and what we have to do is find a way to stop that habit. One great method I can recommend is wearing a rubber band around your wrist. Whenever a negative or worrying thought comes into your mind, snap the rubber band. This will help you change your focus and stop making the problem the focal point of your life. Like the rubber band, be flexible. Realize that all problems eventually get solved one way or another, and the cut on your finger will always heal!
