Susan’s Sound Advice #665

The most common phrases I hear from people are, “I wish I hadn’t done that”, or “I feel so bad…I wish I had never said anything. ” Or “I wish I hadn’t wasted my money”” Or “I wish I had never dated that person. ” We have ALL done things that we consider “dumb”. We say the wrong thing, we make bad investments, we trust the wrong people, etc. I can guarantee you that whatever you have done, I havedone too. Some of these experiences are very hard to forget, as hard as I try to wipe them from my memory. I sometimes think if I had a Genie in a bottle, would I ask to go back in time and erase some of these “mistakes”? The more I think about it, I realize that I would not. Why? Because everything that has happened to me, every decision I made, every person I met, happened for a reason. No matter how painful the experience, it taught me a lesson which, in turn, made me the person I am today. I still do things I regret after, but that’s life. The reality is that there is no such thing as a Genie in a bottle, so…. we have to stop regretting things we cannot control once they are over. We can’t turn back time. Don’t let a perceived mistake weigh you down. We can all live happier and more fulfilling lives if we stopped wishing we could change the past. Instead, let’s be thankful for who we are and the experiences we have had—both good and bad. #dailyinspiration #susankorwin #lifecoach #author #simplestridestowardpositi vechange
