Susan’s Sound Advice #670

“Show me your friends and I will tell you who you are”…. written by an unknown author, this phrase says it all. The people you associate with are some of the most powerful factors in determining who you become and what you accomplish in your life. For example, if we hang out with people who are always critical of us, their negative comments will likely impact how we view our abilities and our self-image. If we are around people who cheat and lie, we are condoning that behavior. It’s not always easy, but as much as possible, we should “hang” with people who have a positive influence on our life. When we are with people who we admire, we are challenged and inspired to do better. We emulate their positive example. Take a few minutes today to evaluate who you spend the most time with. Are they a good influence or do they somehow bring you down to a level not in line with your core values. Slowly reduce the amount of time you spend with the latter. Sometimes the people who are negative are family members. Try having a conversation with them and gently help them understand that their attitude and statements are hurtful. Ask them to build you up instead of tearing you down. It’s not always easy, but it is necessary. Remember this: “If you want to fly with the eagles, you can’t continue to scratch with the turkeys”…Zig Ziglar. #dailyinspiration #susankorwin #lifecoach #author #simplestridestowardpositi vechange
