Susan’s Sound Advice #678

How many of you could receive bravos from 90% of people, but you will best remember the 10% that boo’d? Many people have a serious need to be liked and accepted by everyone. But, that is virtually impossible. Do you know what Martin Luther King, Jr. , Gandhi and Mother Teresa all had in common? Many people did not like them. Many people did not like the Beatles. Many people did not think Rembrandthad any talent. So, let’s think about that. If these people couldn’t get everyone to like them, then you and I can’t expect it either. It really is quite exhausting to live a life trying to please and fit in with different “circles”. You’re running on a treadmill to nowhere. What I have learned is that as long as I stay true to who I am, it doesn’t matter whether I am liked or not. It really doesn’t matter if we are the most perfect person ever. There will always be someone who doesn’t like us, doesn’t like the way we dress, doesn’t like the way we wear our hair, and doesn’t like our personality. Sometimes we may never know why someone doesn’t like us, and that is ok too. So, today, give up the need to be liked by everyone you meet. Live your life, be a good person, have strong values, and remember that Baskin-Robbins offers 1, 000 different flavors of ice cream for a reason! #dailyinspiration #susankorwin #lifecoach #author #simplestridestowardpositi vechange
