Susan’s Sound Advice #682

We all have unique experiences from our past. Because of those experiences, we have learned to wear imaginary “masks”. Whatever way our early lives unfolded, life is not always easy. To cope, to become socialized, to protect ourselves, to be acceptable to our family, to feel safe, to be loved, to avoid being hit or scolded or shamed…whatever the outer world thrust at us, we needed to find a wayto deal with it. Putting on a “mask” to hide what we really felt was a great coping mechanism. But, wearing this mask day after day and year after year is exhausting. We all have problems and obstacles to deal with, either from our past or right at this moment. We can continue to put on more masks, moving further and further away from ourselves, or we can take our masks off and reveal who we really are. The more we hide behind a false version of ourselves, the more we push aside what’s really bothering us. Halloween is a great time to dress up and pretend to be whoever we want to be. But, for every other day of the year, let’s wear the best costume of them all…our true and honest self. #dailyinspiration #susankorwin #lifecoach #author #simplestridestowardpositi vechange
