Susan’s Sound Advice #885

Well, another vacation has come and gone, and all I can say about our trip to Portland, Oregon is that it ranks very high on my list of best vacations ever! I have to admit that I had some false notions about what to expect, and boy was I wrong. The city is so eclectic…a city of more than one distinct style, great restaurants and bars and defined culture. It has both old architecture and moderndesign, and is only an hour drive from the Columbia River Gorge, the Cascades and Mt. Hood. Wineries are also within a short driving distance, and you can go from one to the other and still get back in time for dinner! Every single person you pass on the street, including the delivery men, construction workers and passersby smile and ask how your day is going. You can find the typical sporting attire or designer labels. On top of all that, we got to spend every single day with my son Josh and my daughter in law Alyssa. All in all…a perfect vacation! Even though I have a great life at home, travel enhances it even more. We all get bogged down with the routine of our lives, but traveling always offers a new perspective on life when we return home…new conversations and new memories. With all that being said, I have to admit that I am happy to be home. I enjoy every minute of my time away, yet coming home is always comforting. I love my routine and love my job. Home is where the heart is AND. home is where the WIFI connects automatically! #susankorwin
