Sadly, we live in a culture of digital cruelty that no one is immune to. No matter if you are a celebrity, an athlete, a model, or just an average person on social media, you are a target to be struck down by the poisonous keystrokes of cyber-bullets. That’s the internet, and the internet can be a muddy place. Don’t get me wrong: There are many fantastic, sweet and well-meaning people who use theinternet in a positive way. But there are also those who hide behind their keyboards solely for the purpose of being mean and hurtful. In internet slang, these people are called “trolls”, meaning someone who deliberately upsets others by starting arguments or posting unnecessarily inflammatory messages on blogs, forums, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. If you have any feelings at all, no matter how confident you are, some comments can really sting. There really is nothing we can do about these people. It’s the new reality. Instead of letting a hurtful comment from an internet troll ruin your day, take comfort in knowing that you’re just another anonymous “pawn” in this person’s internet chess game. They have personal issues yet to be resolved, and they gain their power through the only weapon they own…. their keyboard. #susankorwin
