Susan’s Sound Advice #932

Have you ever noticed when traffic slows down for miles that it is usually because there is either an accident or someone is getting a ticket? Do you wonder why all these reality shows are so popular? It’s because we as a society love to watch “trainwrecks”. I can guarantee that if a show was based on how we can make the world a better place by striving for personal improvement and kindness to others, it would not last a week! I think the more we focus on these negative things, the more we become negative as a society. I used to be a news junkie. But, here’s the deal: The brains behind the news stations are fully aware that our minds are attracted to the negative, and that’s why they bombard us with stories of murders, rapes, robberies, terrorism, war, etc…to keep us riveted to our tv screens. I personally don’t need more drama in my life. You may not realize this, but avoiding or limiting how much news you watch or read about does not make you less informed. It will allow you to focus on other facets of the day that don’t include sadness. Believe me, if something important happens in the world, you will know it! But, to sit and constantly soak in visions of rapes, kidnappings and murders first thing in the morning or at the end of the day just to be informed is not productive. Watching and reading positive material will work wonders for changing negative mindsets. It will allow you to believe that the world is still a great place. Try limiting your intake of all things negative and destructive…How about a comedy for a change? #susankorwin #dailyinspiration
