29 Dec Susan’s Sound Advice #94
I strongly believe that the reason most New Year’s resolutions are not fulfilled is because they are just thoughts and promises. There is something called “active goal setting”, which is the key to reaching whatever goal you are aiming for. When you define what you want and write out a plan, you are much more likely to follow through than if you just “think” about what you want to achieve. Write down your goal, as follows: Step 1: Your goal statement should always start with, “to…. . “. Decide what you want, keep it simple and write it down. Step 2: Write down the date to reach your goal; Step 3: List obstacles to reaching your goal; Step 4: After each obstacle, write down an action step you will take to overcome the particular obstacle;Step 4: Set a weekly time to track your progress. Active goal setting is the script, the roadmap and the magic wand. The script is your own story of your future that you have the privilege to write for yourself; the roadmap is the actual plan so that you will know how to get there; and the magic wand is your vision, your imagination, and your ability to make your own dreams come true!
