There are many self-help books out there that insist you can’t ever have a negative thought and that being positive is the ONLY way to be happy. I don’t say that. This is the simple reality: “Stuff” happens and things go wrong on a daily basis. Life is not the Garden of Eden or an episode of “Leave it to Beaver”. People will hurt us, we will get sick, and we will get irritated for whatever reason. It is completely unrealistic to expect that we can’t and shouldn’t ever feel negative and discouraged. However…. the key is to not latch on to these emotions and let them take over our entire day and attitude. We have to see them for what they are…temporary. A miserable person and a content person both go through the same experiences. The difference is that the content person knows that things will probably get better. #susankorwin
